Ms. Delilah, formerly known as "Kaos" came up North last year with her babies in tow.

Her babies were adopted to great homes, and SPBR still has Delilah in foster care.

One of her fosters was curious what Delilah's genetic make-up was, so she had Delilah DNA tested.

Below are the results --

So, I don't entirely understand this --

-- Delilah is very mixed -- that we now know, though we knew it, too!

One draw-back of this testing is that it only identifies "AKC category" dogs --

-- and a "pit bull" is not formerly recognized by the AKC.

Instead, we find that D is part boxer, bull terrier, dachshund (!!), gordon setter, italian greyhound (!!) staffy bull terrier and welsh terrier -- !!

This overall proved an interesting study -- though not really that useful.

The testing company actually refunded part of the testing fee because they agreed that Delilah was truly so mixed that she is indeed one-of-a-kind -- !!

What this should remind people though is that pit bulls are often a mix of many dogs, a big reason why breed-specific laws won't work, and will be very difficult to enforce.

Is Delilah a pit bull? Well, she looks like one, but on paper, she's certainly a lot of other ingredients -- !!

So, until testing becomes even more specific, our girl will stay happy in her foster home, loved and loving, and as always, she's available for adoption to a great home!

If you're interested in her, please fill out an adoption application above!
