These babes are needy in New Haven, CT -- and if you don't help, no one else will -- !!

The babies below are in the New Haven, CT shelter -- a shelter affected by the realities of the present pet overpopulation epidemic --

-- that means, it's a shelter that has limited kennel space, and which must often make the hard decision to put dogs down to make space for new ones that come in.

At the left is Satin, who came to SPBR from New Haven in the Summer of 2004. She wasn't scared, she wasn't upset -- she was just pregnant -- !!

After her babies were placed, and homes were evaluated, here's where Satin went...

... to Doreen and Brian, in suburban Massachusetts.

As of late, her biggest worry is what color collar to wear -- !! She's spoiled and loved, and is a true success story. More on her story can be found here.

Satin's journey started with one of Carol's emails. Carol is a volunteer at the New Haven shelter, with unending energy and determination to help their pit bulls. She is a great person -- a voice for these otherwise discarded souls.

On to the pups -- !!

Miner

Carol writes --

"THIS IS MINER... SHE IS ABOUT 1 YR OLD... MED SIZE.... HAD TROUBLE LIVING WITH OTHER FEMALES.... OUTGOING.... WILL NEED BASIC OBEDIENCE.... UTD ON SHOTS.... PLEASE CROSSPOST HER.... OR LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN HELP.... THANKS CAROL ( VOLUNTEER)"

Well, Miner is a PRETTY girl -- !!!

That she doesn't live well with other females is okay -- that's typical of many females --

-- dogs, I mean -- !!

Ajax

Here's my favorite of the bunch -- Ajax.

Carol writes --

"THIS IS AJAX..... ABOUT 3 YR OLD NEUTERED MALE PIT...... SHORT, STOCKY.... 90 LBS..... PROBABLY NEEDS TO BE ONLY PET.... NO SMALL KIDS..... HE WILL BE PUT DOWN ON 1/10/06..... HE IS A VERY LOVING DOG.... PLEASE CROSSPOST OR LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE CAN HELP... THANKS CAROL ( VOLUNTEER NEW HAVEN ANIMAL SHELTER,
CT)
"

Um, okay --

-- did you read this part?

"HE WILL BE PUT DOWN ON 1/10/06"

Ajax does not need to die -- really -- he's loving, he's handsome, and he just needs to go to a home without kiddos or other dogs --

-- imagine waking up to this happy face for the next years --

-- no need to moan about Seasonal Affective Disorder this winter -- this boy will put some spring in your step -- !!

For Ajax's and for your sake, please consider him -- if you don't, no one else will --

Debs

Here is Debs, which Carol writes --

"THIS IS DEBS..... MED MIX PIT, ABOUT 1 YR OLD.... GIVES LOTS OF KISSES... PROBABLY NEEDS TO BE ONLY PET UNFORTUATELY... LOTS OF ENERGY...... SHE IS DUE TO BE PUT DOWN THIS COMING TUESDAY... SO PLEASE CROSSPOST AND LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE WANTS TO GIVE HER A TRY WITH SOME OBEDIENCE..... THANKS CAROL ( VOLUNTEER, NEW HAVEN ANIMAL SHELTER, CT)"

Again, the language --

"SHE IS DUE TO BE PUT DOWN THIS COMING TUESDAY"

Debs is a good girl, and is still quite the baby at one year --

-- pit mixes are great pups, often having the pit-bull dog aggression edge knocked off a bit --

-- she needs to be the only pet, and more importantly, she needs someone to give her a chance --

Lady

Lady is a heart-break of a story -- she is a 10-12 year old girl in the shelter -- :(

Carol writes --

"THIS IS LADY...SHE HAS BEEN AT THE SHELTER FOR SOME TIME NOW..... SHE IS AN OLDER DOG....WAS TOLD TO BE VERY NICE....WE HAD NO INQUIRES FOR HER AT ALL.... PLEASE CROSSPOST AND LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE CAN HELP..... HER TIME IS RUNNING OUT TOO..... THANKS CAROL ( VOLUNTEER NEW HAVEN ANIMAL SHELTER, CT)"

Lady would be a great pup to sit by the fire with, as you pet her, or as she stares at you in thankfulness for your saving her --

-- she has gone through too much to be in this situation -- please give her the one chance she needs so much.

Tasha

Lastly, is Tasha --

Carol writes --

"THIS IS TASHA..... A NICE MED SIZE MIX PIT.... EVERYONE LOVES HER AT THE SHELTER.... A LITTLE INFO IS GIVEN BELOW ABOUT HER.... BUT PLEASE CROSSPOST AND LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE CAN HELP HER... SHE IS URGENT NOW!!! THANKS CAROL ( VOLUNTEER)"

Tasha is a pretty girl that is very willing to please --

-- what more could you want in a dog??

So there they are -- the reality of the New Haven shelter.

Please consider these pups -- and please spay and neuter your dogs and cats. These dogs are a direct result of careless owners, surrendering or abandoning their dogs. They are also part of a system that doesn't allow much time for adoptions.

Thank you also to Carol and the rest of the New Haven volunteers, for their determination and energy to help otherwise forgotten pups in a typical urban dog pound.
