I received the following --

"Hi Eric, My name is Claire and I am the current president of the SPCA in Central Virginia. We have 2 Pits in our shelter that are attracting no interest at all."

"Ricky is an intact, 9 month old, afraid of men. He has been in our shelter since September and needs to move on."

Well, at 9 months, little Ricky has no business being afraid of men -- really.

Ricky had a bad prior experience with men, and here's where the potential reward comes for his adopter --

-- in helping him get through his issue.

I have worked with a dog that would jump out of his skin every time he was around any male human. After some months, he became SO attached to me and SO confident -- I was so proud of him -- and now, instead of being scared of me, he looks to me for confirmation -- for guidance -- and I can tell you, that's one of the nicest feelings there is, to win over a dog who had prior issues -- and now, he has gotten past those "issues" too, and he is all the better a dog because of it -- !!

"Roxie was an owner relinquish because they did not have the time for her. She is a spayed 1 yr old, brindle, a bit shy and not very socialized. Roxie is a sweet girl who has been in our shelter since August and is just moldering away."

Roxie's look in her picture at the right here just pains me -- she is a wonderful girl -- she is only one year old, and she is living day to day, wondering what happened to her home that gave her up for superficial reasons.

She is a good girl, and she is a princess, that you can tell.

If you're interested in either of these pups, please fill out an application above --

-- and also, please consider both of their situations -- these two were both cute little puppies that had to be "had" not too long ago --

-- in the interim, one was abused, and the other was discarded. Now you can see why it's so hard to place puppies in to long term homes -- puppies have the bling that people want at the moment, but when they grow up, or even in to adolescence, they often get shown the door, or worse yet, abused.

So, again, please consider these two -- their lives depend on it, and they will love you dearly for it.
