I am a 5th grade teacher in NJ and I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your site - especially because you aren't afraid to speak up for the most misunderstood dog in American history. Also, I am very touched by the appreciation you show towards your sister, who seems to "speak" to me as well, in that my life has also been dedicated to educating young people.
In my classroom, I teach humane education to my students in the hopes of planting the seeds of change with regard to pit bulls , as well as promoting responsible dog ownership in general. As the Adoptions Coordinator of a small, non-profit, all-breed rescue group (Loli's Place), I also advocate the adoption of pets and the importance of spaying & neutering.
My "co-teacher" is my dog LuLu, a rescued pit bull, now certified as a therapy dog. I am very fortunate to be able to take her to work with me so that the students can see first hand just how wonderful these dogs truly are.
In addition to LuLu, I have 3 other pit bull dogs in my home: Victor, Miss Piggy , and Winnie (a foster dog). I've always loved this breed, and I just wanted to let you know how much it means to me to know that there are other people out there who feel the same way.
If you are ever in NJ, I would really love to meet you and your dogs. Perhaps we can do a rescue event together or something....? Maybe your presence & positive vibes will bring good luck to my Winnie in finding her forever home!!!
PS I've attached a pic of LuLu in the classroom with me (we were featured in " The Unexpected Pitbull" calendar last year). She would love to meet you as well!!!!
