I received this letter about dear China and her babies -- I couldn't be prouder of dear China and the many angels watching over her --
"Hi Eric -- I am the Manhattan Center Supervisor. I was here when China came in, and thank you for the beautiful photos.
I took this position over in August of 2004. I have been involved with the many needed changes here since then, and hope to be involved with many more. I encourage you to stop by and see the new faces of AC. As I mentioned I was here when China’s original owner turned her in. I knew immediately that she was expecting and my heart broke because I could not understand how an owner could turn in their, dog let alone a pregnant one. I have whelped many a litter in my day and I know how important it is for the Mom to feel safe and secure in her whelping area. I tried to speak to the owner to see if he could keep her until the pups were born but he had made his mind up and did not want to be bothered with it. So we all sprung into action.
New Hope started looking for placement, medical gave her a needed check – up and all the animal care officers were given specific instructions on feeding and keeping watch over her. We all knew she was ready to whelp very soon. Once the little cuties arrived we fed her extra meals with supplements and checked as often as possible on her and the pups. While all this is going on the clock was still ticking and time was passing us by, we all new she needed to find a safer setting with less commotion and more hands for the TLC she deserved.
When Renee gave us the good news we were all ecstatic. This beautiful Pitt Bull that trusted her new caregivers at AC, touched all of us, and the little pink faces of her pups made us all smile. Your e-mail with the photos is hanging up in the employee lunch room so everyone can see how she is doing. Thanks again for keeping in touch and most of all thank you for taking China and her pups. It is great to see the system work.
